Our schoOls are pretty coOl Music If you have ever attended one of our middle or high school band concerts, not only do you experience the skills of our musicians, but one has the opportunity to see the talents of Mr. Eric Clauder, band director for grades 5 – 12. At each concert, he briefly takes a moment to share the benefits of music in a child's education. Here is his latest message to parents, grandparents and community members. "Music education is incredibly beneficial to students. It teaches discipline. It encourages leadership. It teaches and reinforces grit and perseverance. It expresses emotion. It is a life-long skill. Equally valuable is the inherent joy that comes with playing an instrument in a group setting. Playing music together is good for you in ways that are not necessarily measurable. Music refreshes us. Music connects us. Music opens us to far greater humanistic possibilities. Music is exercise for the soul. Music is incredibly valuable – a true human creation and expression. And despite the immense amount of research into how music positively affects students' academic performance, music should stand on its' own as an integral part of a well-rounded education." "My daughter loves going to school!" "Teachers are actively engaged and kids think highly of them." "I have noticed that kindness increases every year. That everyone at this school, though they may not be your friend, all watch out for each other." "The staff that works here is really nice, and I am very thankful for being here." "For a 'small school,' students have a large variety of programs and opportunities." – Survey Comments from the 2018-2019 Frankenmuth School District School Improvement Report 12 List Elementary third grade students visited State Representative Rodney Wakeman who took them onto the floor where he works.
