The Frankenmuth Economic Development
Corporation (EDC) has been working for
years to attract new business investment,
providing needed assistance throughout
the purchase, development, growth
and expansion phases of a project. A
committee of the City since 1999, the EDC
has most recently focused its energies on
the Frankenmuth Business Park, located
at the north end of the City. With an eye
to diversify the tax base of the City and
to provide new job opportunities for
residents, the EDC purchased the 15-acre
parcel in 2002.
The property is zoned "Industrial Special
Use Planned Unit Development" which
permits well designed, lower intensity
industrial uses. Providing space for
growth of non-retail and non-commercial
uses is necessary to hedge against
fluctuations in the critical tourism
industry, Frankenmuth's bread and butter.
In 2015, Mike Grossi, owner of Kremin Inc,
chose to expand his business, relocating
from Saginaw Township and purchasing
nearly four acres in Frankenmuth's
Business Park. Kremin, an advanced
manufacturer in precision tooling, serves
the defense, aerospace, medical device,
energy, dimensional stone, and industrial
markets. Today, Kremin employs more
than 32 full time office and machine
operators and is growing at a steady pace.
