23 #SeeFrankenmuth 1-800-FUN-TOWN With two different narrated boat tours available, there's something for everyone. The majestic Cass River flows right through our beautiful downtown and many visitors may not even realize it. With so many things to look at – from the German architecture and horse drawn carriages to the beautiful flowers and shops –it could take a second, third, or even fourth visit to Frankenmuth to realize the many outdoor opportunities Little Bavaria has to offer. The Bavarian Belle, a 150-passenger traditional paddlewheel style riverboat, has been cruising the Cass for years delighting passengers and educating them on Frankenmuth's rich history. If an intimate setting is more your speed, the Frankenmuth FunShips will deliver a one-of-a-kind Frankenmuth experience. Enjoy house-made chocolates paired with Michigan wines as you wind along the riverbank on a 12-passenger electric Duffy boat. Both the Bavarian Belle and Frankenmuth FunShips are handicap accessible which makes either a worry-free option to enjoy the great outdoors. Prefer to adventure at your own pace? Bring your kayak or canoe and take off from our universally accessible launch located in Heritage Park. Didn't bring your kayak? No problem! Frankenmuth Kayak Adventures will rent one to you and even drop you off upstream so you can explore a section of the Cass River Water Trail. With a dozen launches spread across 30 miles of riverfront, this scenic, beginner level trail will call you back for more fun in nature! "I didn't even know Frankenmuth had a river!" FRANKLY SPEAKING In 2015, Frankenmuth completed the fish ladder project which removed the original restrictive dam and allowed fish, like walleye, access to miles and miles of historically significant spawning grounds. The "rock dam" has also become a popular spot for locals and visitors alike to cast a line just steps away from Downtown. (Tip: Fishing licenses are available at Gill-Roy's Hardware and Frankenmuth True Value.)
