By Lydia Wilder Muth Serves was created back in March 2020 in just about a week's time. The Frankenmuth Task Force saw at the beginning of Covid-19 that there was going to be a need for connecting volunteers with resources and people who may need a little extra help during this unprecedented time. Whether it was getting groceries, going to the post office, helping the City with information drops, or even moving into a new apartment, Muth Serves had volunteers out nearly every week helping others. Considering Muth Serves was built so quickly, in the middle of a global pandemic nonetheless, I was not sure what to expect for the outcome. To say I was blown away would be an understatement! Every request I sent out instantly received responses! Sometimes within seconds of the volunteer request going out, I had someone agreeing to help. After seeing the responses and help we received with Muth Serves, I thought it would be a cool to see what other stories and acts of kindness took place within Frankenmuth during the last few months. Muth Serves held a giveaway where people could anonymously nominate their neighbors, co- workers, friends, family, or anyone in the community that helped make these last few months a little better. After reading the submissions, it's clear to see that the phrase "Muth Means Courage" is very true within the Frankenmuth community. I hope you enjoy reading a few of the short stories about the courageous people we have within and around the community! SERVINGGOOD Looking to volunteer? Adam Beller "Adam contacted me via Facebook and wanted to use the City to encourage residents to drop off gently used iPads and tablets so that they could be donated to nursing homes. The nursing facilities then could use the tablets to help residents connect with family members as access to the nursing facilities was restricted. He contacted the City to ask if we would share the idea and offer to be a drop off point for residents. In addition to clearly having a big heart, Adam is an EMT with Mobile Medical Response and has worked throughout the pandemic." Dr. Derek Schaller "Dr. Schaller was instrumental in providing real-time medical expertise to the Frankenmuth Task Force as community leaders navigated the unchartered territory. He volunteered his time and provided his knowledge with the community via a number of Facebook live events and assisted in the Think Tank Work groups with the local business community – All while working through the crisis and caring for patients in our local Emergency Rooms." Jennifer bristol "Mrs. Bristol has remained a dedicated educator during this difficult time. She cares for her students and has been committed to providing a quality education throughout the current pandemic." Cassie Cirisan "While I stepped away for a time to be safe with my asthma, Cassie worked like 100 hours a week for eight weeks to keep our store running during Covid. 8
