PLEASE WASTE RESPONSIBLY City of Frankenmuth residents receive weekly yard waste services as part of their curbside solid waste collection program. All yard waste materials must be placed in paper yard waste bags or in 20 gallon or smaller garbage cans with handles that have a "Yard Waste" sticker affixed to the front of the can. Yard waste stickers are available at the office. If you're looking to purchase a can, make sure to visit GillRoy's or Frankenmuth True Value. Leaf pick up will still take place in the Fall. The City will announce the start of pick up –– usually in October. If you have leaves that fall before the City starts pick up of the leaves, you can put leaves and other yard waste into bags or containers for weekly Wednesday pickup. Please do not rake or sweep leaves into the street before leaf pick up. Do not place pumpkins, sticks, garden debris, etc. in leaf piles. Nothing should be swept into the curb/street other than leaves and only after leaf pick up officially begins. The City offers brush service the first Monday of each month, from April through November. Brush should be placed at curb in larger piles (bigger than what fits in a yard waste container) or two inches or more in diameter. Please do not place twigs and small sticks at the curb for this pick up. These small piles or sticks should be placed in a bag or container for weekly pick up. If you have questions, please contact the Frankenmuth City Office at 989-652-9901. So many events have been cancelled in 2020, but this pandemic won't keep Frankenmuth from shining brighter than ever in all its Christmas glory. There is a new Christmas committee working on what this year's plans for Christmas might look like in Frankenmuth. Even with the restrictions on events, the group is excited to use the opportunity to do something great. We don't know exactly what that will look like yet, but a lot of work and planning is happening behind the scenes. One of the ideas in the initial meeting was to better engage the local community in new ways. Perhaps a neighborhood decorating contest? Or neighbors that work together to create a theme for their neighborhoods? If you are interested in helping lead some of the community efforts for this year's Frankenmuth Christmas Experience, please contact Lydia at groupsales@frankenmuth.org. The goal of the committee is to create more ongoing, grand displays that spread the festivities out in a safe way over time and space, so more participation is key! Get your Christmas spirit on and join us to wrap up 2020 in the most beautiful way! Christmas in Frankenmuth 3
