Are you interested in learning the key to tiring out an
entire 5th grade class? EFR teachers Emily Spaulding,
Madison Struble, and Wendy Suhr discovered this
formula. On Wednesday, May 12, students and staff
spent an entire day outside learning at the Saginaw
ISD's Camp Hartley. Originally scheduled for Fall
2020 as an overnight excursion, the teachers worked
closely to preserve this memorable experience for our
students. Instead of dwelling on "what they couldn't
do," Hartley's staff focused entirely on all the learning
that happens in the great outdoors.
Gratefully, Mother Nature was completely on-
board with this collaborative plan. Many loved the
team-building activities which required leadership,
attention, communication, and problem solving
abilities. A student favorite was their time learning
about our local Native American history. Their
teachers remarked that the "bus ride home was
rather quiet" as students reflected on their day of
learning in the fresh air.
