he magic of Christmas that Wally Bronner brought to Frankenmuth back in 1945 has weaved its way into the fabric of Frankenmuth. Thousands of visitors flock to our own "Christmas Town" to enjoy the season, while residents revel in the beauty that descends on the city during the holiday season each year. The magic continues to grow as we head into the end of 2021! In 2020, Christmas in Frankenmuth got a little added sparkle with the development of the Frankenmuth Christmas Experience. The Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau, in partnership with the Downtown Development Authority, City Beautification and many gracious businesses and organizations were instrumental in making this possible. The plan spans three years, with additions and improvements slated for each following year. The goal is to spread the Christmas Experience over time and space so that people could visit less crowded areas and still find something magical. Regardless of the day or time someone visits to get in the spirit, there will be something special to enjoy. What was primarily one big Christmas kick off weekend following Thanksgiving – an already busy time in Frankenmuth – shifted to something even bigger that could be enjoyed any day of the week. It was a rousing success! Due to the ongoing shutdowns and restrictions, Frankenmuth received less visitor traffic during the holidays, giving the locals a chance to embrace and enjoy the season. There were countless family photos taken in several of the Stop & Snap locations and a visit to the new Christmas tree was a great place to see neighbors, even if it was behind a mask. In 2021, there are some new and even more exciting additions on the horizon. We hope to see equally as many locals enjoying their town during the holiday season. As travel has rebounded, we expect that our streets will be busier with people visiting from all over the country and perhaps finally Canada as well. The special thing about this new model is that because most amenities are available every day of the week, locals will still be able to find less busy times to enjoy them. While it may seem early to be talking about plans for the holidays, this new effort has become a year-round planning effort. Committees have been meeting all year to improve on the groundwork laid in 2020. The effort is broken up into 3 areas L E T T H E M A G I C G R O W Christmas in Frankenmuth T 14
