The 2021/2022 year of sales felt "normal". Conferences, meetings, and events were back in person! The year started in January at ABA in Grapevine, Texas - with 33 sales appointments. From those 33 appointments, there were a total of 36 trips to Frankenmuth on the books and from that we just had a feeling it would be a good year for groups. And boy were we right, bus groups seemed to come back with a vengeance this year. This was partially fueled by Canadian traffic. For the first time in two years, Canadian travelers were able to visit Michigan's Little Bavaria! Our welcome packet request nearly tripled from the previous year - including many bulk requests for group tours and conventions. The meeting industry began to pick back up in-person and we were able to attend Connect Detroit - one of the largest meeting industry conferences. Family Reunions were a big trend this summer - many planning large outings utilizing a variety of amenities in Frankenmuth including camping, pavilion rentals, gnome hunts, and our hotels. In spring of 2022 our Group Tour Planner also received a much needed makeover. This guide is packed full of group information, itineraries, and tips. After being postponed multiple times due to the pandemic, we were finally able to hold our Joe Veneto Experience Lab on June 14th. This workshop was a follow-up from the Experience Lab we attended in 2019. This workshop, geared towards CVB businesses, allowed for great brainstorming, education, and networking. 11,880 coupon books and 12,750 visitor guides were distributed to visitors!
