55 Paid for by: Saginaw Intermediate School District 3933 Barnard Rd. | Saginaw, MI 48603 Share your thoughts about the millage proposal with us! www.research.net/r/SISDmillage Michigan law requires school districts to provide special education programs and services. However, the State of Michigan has not fully funded this requirement. Saginaw Intermediate School District (Saginaw ISD) has scheduled an August 2, 2022, special education millage election on behalf of Saginaw County's twelve public school districts and six public school academies. Saginaw ISD is the only educational entity that can place a special education millage proposal on the ballot. The special education funding shortage is currently $8.1 million across the local school districts and public school academies in Saginaw County. Saginaw County's public school districts and academies have made up this shortage by taking $8.1 million from their general fund budgets. This has meant a reduction in programs and services for the 25,653 students attending Saginaw County public schools and academies. All revenue generated by the 1.5583 mill tax increase will be used to greatly reduce the special education revenue shortage, freeing up local district general fund dollars for educational programs and services. The 10-year millage proposal will cost the average Saginaw County homeowner about 21ยข per day.
