No doubt you've heard this expression: "You never know what you've got 'til it's gone. " And without a doubt, you and I would agree with it as well. Through our own life experience, we know this is true. Whenever we allow complacency, the latest fad, or simple inattention to influence our choices and actions we often set ourselves up for unintended losses. This is a hard truth, I'll admit. But you and I both know what it's like to look back on something or someone –and realize the situation is no longer quite the same – and then wish we had somehow acted differently. Because we understand this truth so well, I'm grateful the Frankenmuth community has kept our facilities current and updated to meet the needs of today's learners with the unmatched generosity, care, and support it has given to our school district. Our community has never allowed complacency, fads, or misplaced attention erode the high expectations and hopes we have for the education of our children. I'm grateful for this. It's this commitment that keeps the bond between our community and FSD so strong. From generation to generation, the Frankenmuth community made sure its school district would always be FSD'S NEW AND RENOVATED FACILITIES OUR COUNITY'S COITMENT MADE THE DIERENCE! "The gracious support of our community has allowed us to improve not only our many collaborative learning environments, but also our roofs, pavement, HVAC systems, cafeterias, and playgrounds." – Brandon Muller, FSD Board President a welcoming beacon of tradition, high standards, educational excellence, and opportunity. This community wants its public school district to be a premier place in partnership with the home and community where children can learn, grow, and pursue their dreams. Now, this article is not about boasting, rather the opposite. It gives me a platform to express my appreciation to you. Thanks to you and our community – FSD has prudently and effectively built upon the construction bond, Sinking Fund, and operational millage renewal funds which our community approved in August 2019. I'm sure you've seen many of the renovations taking place over the last 3-4 years. Our construction, updates, and upgrades have touched every building on our campus, PreK-12. The FSD board, staff, students, parents, and countless others worked hard to connect the expectations you and our community have for our district with clear vision, quality instruction, supportive facilities and infrastructure, and good stewardship of the resources we're provided. Thanks to you and our community – we've been successful in achieving this! BY GRANT HEGENAUER, SUPERINTENDENT 4
