16 The kickoff to the 2023-24 school year is just around the corner, and as we prepare for an exciting and productive year ahead, we want to share some of the great things happening in the Frankenmuth School District. Having identified areas of strength and opportunities for growth through a number of surveys and work sessions that included a wide variety of stakeholders, we are continuing our focus on the four goal areas outlined in the FSD's Strategic Plan: Culture of Excellence in Education, Sustainability for Today and the Future, Facilities and Technology for the 21st Century, and Engaged Community Stakeholders. The plan in its entirety can be accessed on the FSD website: www.fmuthschools.com under the 'District' tab. We will continue to monitor and evaluate our progress in these goal areas, and will continue to seek input along the way, so if you don't already subscribe to the Superintendent's Weekly Email Update, sign up on the FSD website under the District tab by clicking Superintendent Hegenauer or going to https://fmuthschools.com/superintendent/. List Elementary List is projecting 484 students for the upcoming school year. In addition to new families joining us this year, we have some new staff members we are excited for you to meet at our Open House on Tuesday, August 29, from 6:00 - 7:00pm. This year, we have some exciting changes and initiatives that will enhance your child's educational experience. Our dedicated team of teachers and staff have been working hard to design innovative learning opportunities, foster creativity, and promote a love for exploration and discovery. We added art to our daily specials schedule, additional intervention support staff, and will be utilizing the University of Florida Literacy Institute's Foundations phonics program schoolwide. Our buildings are gearing up for another great year of academic growth and exceptional educational opportunities for our students! BACK TO SCHOOL: KICKING OFF A NEW YEAR! By Grant Hegenauer
