ORY TIME FAQ Fall 2025 Curious About Creators! By Michelle Duclos, Library Director This year's story time theme is Curious About Creators! Each session, we'll spotlight a different children's book author or illustrator—some beloved favorites, and some exciting new names. Mrs. Emmons chose this theme to help families discover new book experiences and to inspire kids to fall in love with the work of talented creators. When children start to recognize their favorite authors and illustrators, they feel more connected to the library collection—and more excited to read! We've made a few exciting changes to our schedule to better serve our families—read on to learn more! Q: What's the new story time schedule? Mondays • 10:00 AM – All Ages • 11:30 AM – Preschoolers (ages 3–5) Tuesdays • 9:00 AM – Babies (ages 0–2) • 10:30 AM – All Ages Q: Why the change in times for story time? We've adjusted our schedule to help more families attend. The 11:30 Preschool Story Time on Mondays is set later to give families time to get to the library aer local preschool pickups. Our Tuesday Baby Story Time is now just for ages 0–2, with songs, rhymes, and activities specially designed for our tiniest patrons. Q: Are all the weekly story times on the same theme? Yes! Each week's theme is the same across all four sessions. Our 2025 theme is Curious About Creators, celebrating amazing authors and illustrators. The books, songs, and activities are carefully adapted to fit each age group. Q: Do I need to register? Nope! Just drop in—no registration required. Q: Do I have to come at the same time every week? Not at all! Choose whichever time works best for your family each week. We're here to make story time fun, flexible, and stress-free. Q: Isn't my baby too young to attend story time? Absolutely not. We welcome babies of all ages to story time. The earlier you begin sharing the love of books, the better! We have had babies 2 weeks old attend story time. Q: Who leads story time? Story time is led by Mrs. Emmons, the early learning specialist. She's here to foster a love of books, learning, and laughter in your little ones! She comes from a background of teaching kindergarten for 16 years and has been our children's librarian here for 3 years. Q: What kinds of things happen during story time? We read books, sing songs, dance, and more! Aer the story telling portion of the time, we then go into our sensory exploration where children can play, cra, snack and more, all along with our theme for the week. While the children are playing is a great time for caregivers to socialize as well. Mrs. Emmons tries to incorporate all 5 senses into the story time because she knows the more senses that are engaged during learning, the more is retained with the learners. Q: Do I need a library card to attend? Nope! Story time is free and open to everyone—no library card required (though we'd love to help you get one if you're interested!). Q: What if my child gets wiggly, noisy, or upset? That's totally okay! We understand kids are learning. You're welcome to step out and come back in whenever you're ready. Q: Can older or younger siblings come too? Yes! We welcome siblings. Just keep in mind that each story time is geared toward a certain age group, so some activities may be more engaging for specific ages. Q: How long does story time last? Each reading session is about 15–25 minutes, depending on the age of the group, followed by a 20 minute or so of playtime, exploring toys, activities, books, snacks and/or visiting with fellow story time attendees. 13
