Where did you grow up / Where did you grow up / graduate high school and/or graduate high school and/or attend college? attend college? "We both graduated from Frankenmuth High School, Pat in '78 and Terri in '79. Pat's children Jack, Emily and Erin grew up in Dryden, Michigan and graduated from Dryden High School. Pat attended Ferris State University for a year before moving to Boulder, Colorado where his family had relocated. He later attended the University of Colorado and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Terri attended Central Michigan University before transferring to Northwood University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and Management. She later worked as a graphic artist and now creates digital artwork and commissioned animal portraits from her home studio." Where else have you lived? Where else have you lived? Prior to moving to Frankenmuth in 1971, Pat lived in Pennsylvania and Ohio. His family moved to Boulder, Colorado in the summer of 1978. After graduating from college, Pat took a job with Boeing in Seattle, Washington where he lived for about five years before accepting a position with EDS that brought him back to Michigan. Pat lived in Shelby Township and later in Dryden while raising his kids. After they graduated and started their own careers, the kids moved out of state. Jack and Audra lived in the Phoenix area before moving to Southaven, Mississippi. Emily and Kirk moved to the Nashville area, and Erin moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida. Terri left Frankenmuth in 1982 and drove west until she hit water. She spent nearly 35 years living in California in places like Orinda, Palm Springs and Grass Valley before eventually returning to Michigan with Pat. What made you choose to What made you choose to live in Frankenmuth? live in Frankenmuth? "One of the main reasons is that we both grew up here. Even though we had both been away for many years, Frankenmuth always felt like home." After Pat's father retired in 2002, his parents moved back to Frankenmuth. When he passed away in 2014, Pat's mother eventually moved into Independence Village. At that time none of the family was living nearby, so Pat moved her down to Mississippi where it was easier for him to help care for her. By that time Terri and Pat were married, but Mississippi never truly felt like home for either of them. In 2019 they decided it was time to move back to Frankenmuth for good in large part to bring Pat's mom home to live out her last years in Frankenmuth. After so many years away, coming back felt like closing a circle. 12 Telling stories about the community can best be told by the people whose stories weave together to make Frankenmuth such a great place to live.
