First, October 6 & 7, will mark the first ever "Michigan Cares for Tourism" project. This volunteer effort is bringing industry professionals together to preserve Pure Michigan. The inaugural project will be at Historic Mill Lake, where volunteers will work to restore cabins that have been closed since 2000 but were once the first opportunity urban youth and others had to experience Michigan's great outdoors. Indian Trails is offering free transportation to Chelsea from a few areas of the state and Frankenmuth is one of the pick-up locations. We highly encourage our tourism industry partners to consider attending with us for a great day of working together to give back to Pure Michigan! For more information go to michigancaresfortourism.org or feel free to email me at ceo@frankenmuth.org. Additionally, throughout the month of October the Great Lakes Bay Region will come together to celebrate its cultural assets along with the first ever solar art festival…Fall In Art & Sol. The event will feature 7 premiere works of solar art across the region along with 13 pieces of art that were selected through an open call process. Frankenmuth will feature Solar Art and our local Art's Council will also present a solar exhibit that begins on October 12. Check out the website at www.fallin-glbr.com. With a fall full of new events, we prepare to wind down the first Friday Fun Night series which will conclude September 27. The series has exceeded expectations for sponsors, residents, performers and visitors alike. Watch for the season to be announced next spring! Thank you to all who supported the initiative, giving us locals a reason to enjoy our downtown. Finally, with the fall comes the change of our organization's fiscal year. This might not mean much to you, but to us it means a time to seek and implement new ideas and suggestions. So, if you have anything to share, please don't hesitate to contact me directly at ceo@frankenmuth.org. We will continue to make the best decisions we can to help our members and community prosper!
