I just wrapped up our meeting planner FAM on June 2nd, hosting more than 14 meeting planners not only from Michigan but Ohio and Illinois as well. While we had planners from companies like GoodYear and Helms Briscoe, the majority were independent planners which gives us greater exposure with their multiple clients. The planners loved our theme, "Lederhosen Not Required" and thought we were so tech savvy with our mobile registration and site along with our QR code cupcakes. The FAM itinerary included property tours of our meeting space and also team building outings, all of which turned out to be a lot of fun and informative. The planners were very impressed with what our little town has to offer and have already emailed me and expressed excitement about the future events they will be bringing here. They were shocked to find out all of the other things to do and see besides our staples: chicken and Christmas. Between climbing through the trees at the Adventure Park, decorating cupcakes at SugarHigh and even learning our Frankenmuth theme song, "Ein Prosit" while wine and chocolate tasting at FunShips. It's safe to say everyone left with a new appreciation of what we have to offer. I look forward to seeing all of them again and again as they become Frankenmuth meeting "regulars." Looking forward to the next few months, I will be attending the Society of Government Meeting Professionals chapter meetings, Michigan Meeting Professionals International chapter meetings and also Organization Professionals education conference in Grand Rapids in July. We launched our social partner program a few weeks ago and so far so good; we're learning a lot of best practices while looking for new ways to help our members gain exposure to our 105,000 Facebook fans. While all promoted post spots are full from now until December, I'm thinking of alternative ways to allow greater participation without saturating our fan base; stay tuned.
