The City of Frankenmuth has a new option for yard waste disposal. Beginning on the regular trash day on Wednesday, April 4, residents may place yard waste in kraft paper bags 10 gallons or less. Yard waste is defined by state law as grass clippings, sod without dirt, twigs (less than 2″ in diameter), leaves, and other yard vegetation. All containers must be marked with yard waste stickers available at City Hall. Containers are available at local stores. Yard waste is not: rootballs, soil, stumps, tree trunks, large shrubs, and bushes. Brush pick up by the City will continue on the first of each month, March through December. Branches and twigs less than 2" in diameter should be placed in bags or containers for yard waste pick up each week. Only larger branches and brush should be placed at the curb for brush chipping. Did you know? Our community is now a single stream recycling area? All of your plastic, paper, cardboard, glass and metal items can go into one container, making recycling easier and more convenient than ever! Spring Clean-up Reminders Winter has finally passed and residents are eager to get outside. As part of your annual spring cleaning the City of Frankenmuth is asking for your cooperation in keeping our neighborhoods and businesses neat, clean and attractive. Please take this time to ensure that any small piles of debris (wood, metal, steel or scrap items) are placed to the curb for your regular trash pick up on Wednesday. If you are have large or bulky items, such as appliances or furniture, place those items to the curb as well for trash pick up. Each resident is allowed to place up to two bulky items each week. The warmer weather also means that residents are thinking about summer. Recreational vehicles, including boats, RV's, utility trailers and campers, usually appear in neighborhoods this time of year. Residents are reminded that these types of vehicles should not be stored more than seven days at a time nor more than 21 days per year. Though it may be a little early to paint, now is the perfect time to take stock of sheds and garages which may need a fresh coat of paint. Businesses can inspect their signs for wear and tear from the winter and check their dumpster enclosure to be sure that any debris that has accumulated under the snow is removed. Is your address visible from the road? If you do not have an address posted or if it is difficult to see, it will be difficult for first responders to see it as well. Address number should be a minimum of four inches in height. If you have any question, please do not hesitate to contact the City at 989-652-9901. If you have concerns or complaints, you can either talk to us directly or you can visit frankenmuthcity.com and under the resident tab click on citizen request center.
