All student athletes who participate in a contact sport take part in the King-Devick concussion testing. This testing program is used by the National Football League and enhances our ability to spot signs and symptoms of concussions. Julie Felten, our athletic trainer, monitors the athletes closely and conducts sideline balance testing which compares a student's baseline data with their current information using an app on her phone. The Frankenmuth Athletic Association sponsored this technology. Fall sports take place during the warmest months of the year and require close monitoring of the conditions. The Frankenmuth School District, with assistance from the Frankenmuth Athletic Association, Muth Youth Football, Baseball/Softball Association, AYSO, and Parks/Rec, has utilized the Sferic weather system technology that is mounted on the roof of the FHS gym. This technology alerts coaches and administrators when there is lightning nearby as well as extreme heat. The FHS athletic staff follows all MHSAA Heat Guidelines when temperatures are high. With the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature system featured in the Sferic weather system, we check both heat and humidity to make sure all playing conditions are safe for our athletes. New for the 2018-19 school year, all home athletic events in the FHS gym, on the football field, and at the track will be broadcast live on the NFHS network. This is possible thanks to the purchase of two Pixellot cameras by the Frankenmuth Athletic Association. Visit muth.life/subscribe-sports to subscribe! Also new for 2018-19 school year, families will have the ability to purchase all season passes online through the GoFan Mobile Pass. This eliminates the need for a plastic pass as participants can show their pass on their phone. More information can be found online by visiting frankenmuthathletics.com. We look forward to seeing you at the games! Getting Ready for the Athletic Seasons 12
