Social media continues to be a large traffic driver for frankenmuth.org, accounting for the direct referral of 33,881 users in 2018. Social media users are also highly engaged, consume multiple pieces of content and usually request a visitor guide (1 in 12 social media referrals requested a guide online in 2018). While Frankenmuth has been developing video assets for a number of years now, we took a more active approach in 2018 on social media by utilizing Facebook LIVE. Our LIVE videos were shot at major festivals held in Summer 2018 and gave visitors a "tour" of the events and what was happening in the moment. We also recognized the growing desire from our members to have access to more information about social media marketing and how it works with their business. From that, our Social Media Sessions were born. We hosted over 30 members individually at our office for a 30min training session to audit their social media presence, teach them best practices, and give them a chance to ask their burning questions about social media. The response was overwhelmingly positive and we look forward to educating our members in this capacity again! 137,782 page likes on the Frankenmuth Facebook page, an increase of 9,728. Our most liked post was about Auto Fest which reached 81,315 people and had a total of 3,973 likes, 347 comments and 512 shares. 4,540 followers on Twier. Our most engaging post was a retweet from Marc Jacobson (ABC12) during Bavarian Fest. 13,440 Instagram followers, an increase of 2,805 from 2017. Our most popular photo was an image of the Bavarian Inn Castle Shops aer a snowfall during Christmas time. Social Media 8
