If you're looking to get rid of something, chances are we have an easy way to do so. Residents can place an unlimited number of trash bags every Wednesday morning (but not before 7pm the night prior). We ask residents to use their best judgment in poor weather as windy conditions can cause debris to blow. Bags should not exceed 50 pounds when filled and be drained free of liquids. Plastic or metal receptacles are not permissible at the curbside, unless disposal of the receptacle is requested. If you need to dispose of appliances or refuse that is too bulky to place into a bag, residents are allowed up to, two large items placed out to the curb each week. Place the item(s) by the curb and collection employees will tag the item(s), note the location and arrange for pick-up at a later time by a specialized vehicle. Please note that depending upon the pick-up volume, a delay of up to several days may occur. Call the City office at (989) 652-9901 or visit recyclemotion.org for additional details. The City also has programs for yard waste, leaf pick up and brush pick up. Yard waste pick up operates every Wednesday, from April to November. All yard waste materials must be placed in paper yard waste bags or in 20 gallon or smaller garbage cans with handles that have a "Yard Waste" sticker affixed to the front of the can. Stickers are available at the City and, if you're purchasing a can, at GilRoy's and TrueValue. The City will continue to pick up brush (greater than 2 inches in diameter) the first Monday of each month from April through December. Leaf pick up by City crews happens each fall, typically starting in mid-October. The City will only pick up leaves. All other materials should be disposed of as yard waste (this includes garden materials, pumpkins, mums, potted plants, any other vegetation, small sticks). What are you trying to dispose of?
