At the top of our sinking fund projects in 2015 – Updated bathrooms at Frankenmuth High School. Leveraging similar projects to curb costs, the Frankenmuth School District updated the track and tennis courts during the Summer of 2018. Community members expressed interest in adding lines to play pickle ball. The sinking fund also supports parking lot renovations. It was time to replace the existing boiler at E. F. Rittmueller Middle School. Four smaller efficient boilers split the system into zones for improved temperature control. Five Years of Accomplishments: A Photo Story Each sinking fund project begins with one of three criteria – safety, energy efficiency, and repair. While most people noticed the bleachers, floor or lighting in the gym, the crane stopped everyone in their tracks as it placed the new HVAC unit. The sinking fund also provides for improvements to classrooms. Opened in 1979, the band room at E.F. Rittmueller had original carpeting and instrument lockers. During the Summer of 2018, easier to maintain flooring, acoustical panels, lighting and updated instrument lockers were installed in the Band Room. Originally installed when the high school gym was completed in 1973, the bleachers required much attention. 14
