What to Know FOR THE VOTE On August 6, 2019, voters in the Frankenmuth School District will head to the polls where they will be asked to consider three important ballot proposals for the District: a non- homestead operating millage, a sinking fund millage, and a $15.03 million bond. Here are the details on each. Proposal 1 is a $15,030,000 bond proposal that will finance additions and major upgrades to, along with the remodeling of, the District's facilities. If approved, the debt millage to be levied in the first year after the bonds are issued is estimated to be 2.18 mills, which would not require the District to increase the debt millage that it currently levies for its outstanding bonds. The District's outstanding bonds, which were issued primarily to finance additional classrooms at all three schools and the addition of the Bronner Performing Arts Center, will be paid off in 2020. The improvements related to the proposed bonds fall into two basic categories: enhancing school security and student safety; and remodeling and upgrading schools and school facilities. Among the highlighted building projects are security modifications to building entrances, four new classrooms at List Elementary, a new library and cafeteria at List Elementary and a major remodel of the current media center at the Middle and High Schools. Outdoors, the District wishes to develop a complete soccer field with turf, concession stand, restrooms, and accessible walkways that will connect the soccer field, tennis courts and ball diamonds to List Elementary and the Rittmueller Middle School. This project will also fund the addition of synthetic turf on our football field. See the complete list of projects in the highlighted box below. Board of Education President Brandon Muller commented, "Proposal 1 is for our big projects.
