We live in Michigan, so we all know that orange cones mean construction zones. Well, orange squares mean exciting projects and great things to come for the Frankenmuth School District. Soon, you will notice large orange squares around the FSD buildings and facilities. These indicate areas that will be impacted by the bond/sinking fund project proposals on the August ballot. See how many squares you can find, and consider how much of the district your vote can touch! We have several informational events scheduled where you can learn more about the proposals and ask questions. Three of them are "Orange Square Walkabouts" where we will take a walking tour of campus so that you can see where improvements will be made. Orange Squares A T F R A N K E N M U T H S C H O O L S Time to Celebrate It's awards and recognition season in schools, and Frankenmuth High School has great news to share! FHS has been named to US News & World Report's list of Best High Schools in the nation! Coming in at #29 this year based on test results and demographics from the 2015-16 school year, FHS is proud to consistently be recognized among the best in the state and thanks the students, staff, parents, and community for their support of the School District and all of its efforts. The organization did away with awarding "medals" this year, but did recognize all schools that were nationally ranked. The entire list is available at usnews.com/education/best-high-schools. FHS also earned recognition this month by GREATSCHOOLS.ORG with a 2019 College Success Award. This award recognizes and celebrates high schools that excel in ensuring students are prepared for college and careers (based on data from 2017). Information about the Michigan schools that were recognized with this award can be found at greatschools.org/michigan/college-success-award/ And finally, in the first two weeks of May, 117 students sat for 189 Advanced Placement exams. Results on these tests can potentially turn into college credit, and our students typically fare very well (last year's AP pass rate was over 80%, and the qualifying credits – if all students had attended MSU in the fall – would have been worth over 400 credits and over $200,000 in tuition!). Although results are not known until mid-summer, we are eager to share those and information about any named AP Scholars (students who earn certain scores on a certain number of exams earn "scholar" designations) in the Fall.
