It was started by the Chamber of Commerce's Promotions Committee as a way to help create a sense of place for local residents, some of whom had previously suggested that Downtown seemed like it was for visitors. While sharing our Downtown with visitors is certainly part of living in Frankenmuth, there's always room for locals. If you like to be in the middle of the action, perhaps you always come Downtown on a fun-filled night like the Auto Fest Block Party. But for those of you who prefer a little more relaxing stroll, Friday Fun Nights might just be the ticket for you! Historically, the atmosphere on Friday nights Downtown wasn't much different than any other night, unless you snagged a seat on the porch at Tiffany's. Since the launch of Friday Fun Nights, it's a different vibe. A local vibe. It's become common to run into neighbors, co-workers, friends from school, church or just people you recognize from the grocery store. And 7 years later, with many new outdoor dining options, it's a great way to relax and enjoy your town at the end of a long week. The Promotions Committee wanted to give locals a reason and a special day to really embrace their downtown. After some research and many gracious donations, Friday Fun Nights came to life in 2013 and has been going strong since. With annual donations around $7500, the Chamber is able to fund the program offering a small stipend to 5-7 entertainers per night, many whom normally charge a much higher rate. It's a win-win as the entertainers receive great exposure and offset their expenses with tips while our local community enjoy talents along their Main Street. Friday Fun Nights runs every Friday beginning Memorial Day weekend through the Friday before Labor Day from 6-9pm. The entertainment spans from the Top of Hill to the River Place Shops but specific locations vary from week to week. The entertainment is flooded with talented musicians but the Chamber works to have non-musicians as well such as balloon twisters, stilt-walkers, dancers, magicians, interactive activities and more. If you have a talent or know someone local that does, reach out to membership@frankenmuth.org to learn more about how to participate. The lineup varies each week, so be sure to check the Facebook page at facebook. com/FridayFunNights for details each week. It's your town, so come enjoy it during Friday Fun Nights! FUN NIGHT IS LOCAL NIGHT With the launch of another exciting Friday Fun Night series, it's only appropriate to share some of the background and vision for the program. Thank you to our local businesses for their gracious donations to the Friday Fun Nights program.
