Frankenmuth

Since the 1950's, the boat launch on E. Tuscola has been the community's only public boating access to the Cass River. Through the years, the area has had various designs and features, but has always been quite small or difficult for boaters to use. In 2017, Frankenmuth Parks and Recreation received a grant from the State of Michigan to renovate and improve the Memorial Park Boat Launch. Additional funds for the project came from the Saginaw Bay Watershed Initiative Network (WIN), the Frankenmuth Community Foundation, Bronner's CHRISTmas Wonderland and the McNally Family Foundation. The new launch now offers room for two boaters to use the launch at a time, with a dock in the center to make it easier to get on and off boats. In addition to the improved launch, the park area now offers the public a shoreline that's convenient for launching canoes or kayaks. On the site, you will also find picnic areas, peaceful views of the river, and a beautiful new foot bridge across a creek that follows a serene pathway to a handicap accessible fishing platform. Park users are encouraged to try their luck at enhanced fishing opportunities on the Cass River, thanks to the 2015 Fish Wish project, which has enabled more fish to migrate upstream through the rock ramp. The response to these improvements has been incredible. So get out and enjoy this little Frankenmuth gem and better access to the Cass River.
