Make way for THE GRADUATES New Graduates from Saginaw County Fire Academy Frankenmuth Fire Chief Phil Kerns announced that the City's three probationary firefighters passed their written and practical state exams, and a commencement ceremony took place on Monday, May 6, 2019 in Swan Valley High School's auditorium. The three new firefighters, Andrew Babcock, David Danielson and Michael Jimenez each have more than 200 volunteer hours of training and passed testing requirements to become our community's newest firefighters. The Department and the City are honored and grateful to have them join our firefighting force, which brings the total number of firefighters to 35. With this basic training completed, we will now be able to fully utilize them and continue their life-long learning about the latest in firefighting. "If it weren't for the full cooperation of the Frankenmuth area business community who allow their volunteer firefighters to respond during working hours if they are available, the success of our fire department would not be possible," said Chief Kerns. Police Reserve Graduation On Thursday, May 8th, five new Reserve Officers graduated from Frankenmuth Police Department's Reserve Unit: Clifton Blanding, Jr., Ty'Shawn Short, Cameron Grant, Braeden Werth, and Brandon Chrysler. The members of the Reserve Unit are highly trained volunteers who complete rigorous training and testing before graduating to field training. Many Police Reserve Officers join this department to start a career in law enforcement, while others join with a willingness to serve and give something back to their community. Frankenmuth Police Reserve Officers assist the patrol division by providing crowd and traffic control at events. They also patrol with a full-time officer providing: instant assistance, handling calls for service, investigation follow up, and court testimony. These new Reserve Officers will now work alongside the Frankenmuth Police Department serving the community and guests of Frankenmuth with honesty, integrity, and accountability. If you are interested or know of someone who may be interested in becoming a reserve officer, visit frankenmuthcity.com for more information. 10
