Travis Dafoe Travis Dafoe was elected to the Board in 2016 and currently serves as treasurer and as a member of the Board's policy committee. He is a graduate of Frankenmuth High School and attended college at Western Michigan University where he majored in Education and History. Following graduation from college, Travis moved back to Frankenmuth and worked as a substitute teacher in Frankenmuth and Birch Run. He later accepted a teaching position at River Valley Middle High School, in Three Oaks, Michigan, where he also coached basketball and football. During his last year at River Valley, he started attending Cooley Law School on the weekends. After passing the bar, Travis worked first for an attorney in Saginaw and then for Julie Gafkay in Frankenmuth. In 2015, he opened his own firm in Frankenmuth where he currently practices estate planning, elder law, and probate and trust litigation. In addition to serving on the Board, Travis is also a member of the Frankenmuth Historical Association Board, the Frankenmuth Noon Rotary Club and the Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce. Travis is married to his wife, Dawn, who is a Special Education teacher at Frankenmuth High School. They have two children: Zoe, a fourth-grader at List Elementary School, and Will, a first-grader at List Elementary School. They also have a cat named Jack. Colin Maurer was elected to the Board in 2018. He currently serves as assistant contract negotiator for the Board. Colin resides in the City of Frankenmuth with his wife, Jillian, and their future Frankenmuth Eagle, Finn. Both FHS alumni, Colin and Jillian attribute their successes to the amazing staff and academic excellence experienced throughout their time in the Frankenmuth School District. Colin works as a Financial Advisor for Edward Jones, also offering training and mentorship to new advisors. He enjoys volunteering his time to better our community, currently serving as a member of the Lion's Club, the Blessed Trinity Church Endowment Fund Committee, and the Diocese of Saginaw Investment Committee. The Frankenmuth School District Board of Education is proud to represent and work on behalf of the District community. The Board consists of seven elected members. Board members are District residents and are elected at each general election to serve overlapping four-year terms. Please meet our current Board members! Michael Grossi Michael Grossi joined the Board in August of 2019. Mike is a graduate of the Frankenmuth public school system. After high school, Mike attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he received a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and a master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering. After college, Mike worked for General Motors in the Metal Stamping Division at the Flint, Lansing, and Parma, Ohio facilities. Mike returned to Frankenmuth in 2006 to become the Plant Manager of Orchid Orthopedics in Bridgeport. In 2010, Mike purchased Kremin Inc., a small tool and die shop located in Saginaw, Michigan. Kremin Inc. was relocated to the north end of Frankenmuth in 2014, where it now manufactures products for the aerospace, defense, medical, automotive, and oil and gas industries. Mike has been active in the community as a past Frankenmuth Jaycee, Frankenmuth Morning Rotary Club member, and City of Frankenmuth Councilperson. In addition to serving on the Board, Mike also currently sits on the Frankenmuth Economic Development Corporation Board and the Saginaw Valley State University Formula 1 Board. Mike is married to his wife, Amy, and has two children: Sofia (12) and Luke (10). Mike and his family live in Frankenmuth Township and his kids attend St. Lorenz Lutheran School.
