Social media continues to be a large traffi c driver for frankenmuth.org,
accounting for the referral of 16% of our users in 2019. Social media users are
highly engaged, consume multiple pieces of content and usually request a
visitor guide.
We continued to develop our video content library throughout 2019, capturing
footage at numerous festivals and businesses throughout town. Due to the
nature of fi lming – having to do it during the season or festival – the videos we
recorded in 2018 were fi nally able to be used for promotion this year and were
very successful in social media ads on Facebook and Instagram.
In July, we hosted a Social Media Infl uencer Familiarization Tour and invited 10
photographers and writers from across Michigan to join us in Frankenmuth for
3-days. The infl uencers and our team explored Frankenmuth's dining scene, as
well as many of our outdoor activities. The goal of tours like this are to develop
media, such as articles and photos, that the guest shares with their network.
From this tour, we received more than 100 photo and video assets that we can
use in our future advertising materials and promotions!
Our team was fortunate to host an Intern from Frankenmuth High School,
Joshua Vanderhaar, throughout the 2018-2019 school year. Josh had an interest
in photography and social media, and through his experience with us, he was
able to learn more about what our organization does, develop skills on social
media advertising and marketing in general, as well as further develop his
photography.
