Frankenmuth School District graduates are making their mark all over the world. When former students come home, it is interesting to see the influence that their community played in their current careers. Elizabeth Laux is a 2015 graduate of Frankenmuth High School. She credits her schools (St. Lorenz & FHS), coaches, teachers, and classes for preparing her for her current vocation. Mr. Kroeger's classes sparked an interest which turned into a degree in Economics from Hillsdale College. While a freshman at Hillsdale, Elizabeth started a job as an assistant to the head football coach. She shared, "At that time in my life, I loved sports, especially football, but it was more of a job to earn some extra money, and I enjoyed working in an athletic department." She held this position for four years and decided that this was a passion and chose to make it a career. At the beginning of her final semester, she began to apply for internships in the NFL. This is the path that nearly all employees in the League follow to get their foot in the door. She was thrilled to learn that she would be completing her internship with her hometown team, the Detroit Lions, in their communications department. Following the 2019 season, Elizabeth worked Super Bowl LIV in Miami as public relations staff for the NFL and then returned to Michigan to work with the Detroit Lions. Her job consisted of media, public, and player relations. Her department helped connect the team and players to the rest of the world. Some of her tasks included; looking up statistics on individual players, setting up press conferences, bringing players to interviews, and observing practices. It was on Sunday where the fruition of her week's work was visible to the public through the national broadcasts and the articles written by the press with the details she had provided. Like other players and coaches that she works with who change teams and gain new experiences, she will begin the 2020 NFL season with the Indianapolis Colts as a communications intern. Initially, her role is a bit different as she is working remotely for the team. We wish her the best in her new adventures! FHS Grad's Passion Leads Her to the NFL Elizabeth Laux stands on the field of the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida after the conclusion of Super Bowl LIV. Elizabeth stated, "The days were both long and unpredictable, but I loved every second of it." 22
