The Frankenmuth Police Department helps determine when conditions warrant snow or ice removal. Typically, 1" or less requires salting and more than 1" requires removal or plowing and salting. Here are some helpful tips to help with snow removal: Keep sidewalks clear of ice and snow as some school children and residents within the community depend on these paths to get around. Other paths to keep clear are in front of mailboxes and fire hydrants. This will greatly help the post office and the city's emergency response. While shoveling, residents should pile snow to the left side of their driveway (looking from the street) to help minimize the amount of snow deposited in your driveway when City trucks clear the roadway. A good tip to keep in mind is when clearing snow from the end of your driveway, it may be less frustrating to wait until the snowplow has passed. Also, please do not shovel, plow, or push snow into the street or across the street. This can cause a traffic hazard for neighbors and those traveling on city streets. Also, do not park vehicles on streets or cul-de-sacs during any snow events nor allow children to play in or on snow drifts near streets or roadways. This serves safety purposes as visibility is often limited during snowplowing efforts. Want to enjoy some Bavarian Inn favorites at home? Let us do the cooking for you! Curbside to go available.
