In March, COVID-19 hit and the Visitor Center lobby was closed. We reopened June 1st with a revamped lobby area and protocols in place to protect both our visitors and staff. During the closure, we continued to answer phone calls from visitors and fulfilled requests for Visitor Guides. Our restrooms remained open the entire time and were professionally cleaned daily. Throughout the year, we also continued to stock the brochure rack at the Dodge Road rest area. In the summer, tables, chairs, and umbrellas were added to the Platz area to provide visitors a place to take their carry-out meals. We also provided visitors with complimentary Frankenmuth branded face masks. When the weather turned cold, we added 4 igloos on the Platz to provide shelter for visitors. The Visitor Center staff assisted the Muth Serves group in preparing two packets of information for delivery to Frankenmuth area residents during the pandemic, including masks and helpful info from the City. 2020 also saw the retirement of Ruth Daley from our Front Desk staff. She had served our visitors for 23 years. We wish her well in her retirement. Thousands >> mailed in response to direct requests from our website and leads from our partnership with Travel Michigan.
