RAU'S COUNTRY STORE
This is one of the largest building art pieces
in Frankenmuth with nine murals in total,
painted by Steven Hargash. The first three
were completed in 2010 and painted in
sepia to mimic their historical theme.
There are also two that pay homage to
the previous owners, Oscar and Evelyn
Rau and William and Lillie Rau. They are
painted to look like windows – a common
trend and theme with Frankenmuth
murals. Over 70 local models were used
for these paintings.
With over 100 hand-
painted murals throughout
town, you will want to
stop in the Visitor Center
to grab a brochure which
maps out every mural!
WILLI'S SAUSAGE
At the "Top of the Hill," our newest mural
greets you at Willi's Sausage Company.
Crafted by Terry Dickinson, this mural
depicts two "windows" looking into an
old-world German butcher shop. The crest
located between the two windows is a
replica of the original which now hangs
proudly inside the shop. If you look into their
actual windows, you may see present-day
staff making sausage – they typically
process Monday through Wednesday.
