17 Any crystal ball and foretelling of the future may have gone out the window in the spring of 2020, but still, we are eagerly planning for the upcoming 2021-22 school year and our opportunities to not only get back to normal, but to ultimately get back to better. As educators, we would be remiss if we did not heed the insights provided and grow from the lessons learned as a result of our experiences this past year. We have seen firsthand the important role we and schools play in the lives of young people, and we are eager to put our learning into practice as we move forward. While we cannot guarantee much, we can address some of the big questions we know our students and parents have about what the 2021-2022 school year will look like. S C H O O L A N D C L A S S O P E R A T I O N S : We are planning for the traditional use of cafeterias, lockers, and locker rooms. F O O D S E R V I C E : With the return to cafeteria use also comes the return of our "regular" foodservice operations, but with the added bonus of continued free breakfast and lunch for the 2021-22 school year. What we don't yet know is what the summer and fall will bring in regards to epidemic orders and guidelines for school operations as we return to campus at the start of the school year, but there are already encouraging changes to mask-wearing guidelines and gathering limitations happening now, which gives us hope. We will continue working with the Health Department throughout the summer as we plan for the fall and back-to-school time. Here's to looking forward to the 2021-22 school year and getting back to better! If only we had a crystal ball...
