T he Frankenmuth Schools proudly offer a variety of programs and opportunities to support our students academically and socio-emotionally. Continued efforts to broaden and expand offerings began about a decade ago when, while serving as Superintendent of Frankenmuth Schools, our now Mayor, Mary Anne Ackerman, noticed a set of vehicles in the student parking lot that caught her attention. They were cars and trucks, always parked in the same spots, often covered in mud/ dirt, and they were there early each day. She had read an article about kids who engaged in extra-curricular or other "outside of school" activities performing better academically, and she wondered where the owners of these vehicles found their "fi t" in the district. This contemplation led to the establishment of the district's mantra "A Place For All." The sentiment behind this mantra has been embraced by district staff and has led to outstanding participation opportunities for students over the years. Academically, in addition to its own instructional programs, the district partners with Career and Technical Education programs in three counties: Saginaw, Bay, and Tuscola. It provides its own CTE opportunities on-site through Co-Operative Learning, Cadet Programs, and Internships, and offers college credit earning opportunities through Advanced Placement, Dual Enrollment, and Great Lakes Bay Early College. The Frankenmuth School District currently offers a wide variety of clubs, teams, and organizations at all levels and numerous athletic opportunities, including 16 Varsity-level Photo Credit: Eagle Eye Photography A Place For All B Y J O L Y N N C L A R K 16
