9 Heidi Engel Kneiling returning home with her parents the Engels affirmed the importance of Sister Cities to promote f riendship among citizens of every land. Since then, the Frankenmuth-Gunzenhausen partnership has become one of the nation's longest continuous and most active "People to People" sister city relationships. It has included numerous group visits and high school and college exchanges, all of which have fostered lifetime f riendships. In June, Frankenmuth hosted guests f rom Gunzenhausen as we celebrate 60 years of f riendship during the Bavarian Festival. The theme for the Bavarian Festival, "Rooted in Friendship," recognized this celebration. Several special ceremonies were held, including the dedication of the 'Margrave chair' outside the Covered Bridge and Leather Gift Shop and a Franconian tree planting at the Rose Garden in Memorial Park, which was dedicated to the Sister City in 1969 when 45 German guests visited Frankenmuth. Genesee St. Please make checks payable to the City of Frankenmuth with Sister City Donation noted on the Memo Line. Sister City Friends f rom Gunzenhausen visiting the State Capital and meeting with Senator Ken Horn. The Bavarian Inn Zehnder family was honored to dedicate this Sister City Chair to celebrate the 60th Anniversary between Frankenmuth and Gunzenhausen Germany. The Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce hosted a Meet the Mayors Morning Mingle.
