T he Frankenmuth Convention and Visitors Bureau (FCVB) is proud to announce the upcoming development of a 100,000-square-foot, purpose-built sports complex facility designed to host indoor tournaments while also serving as a valuable year-round recreational resource for the region. The complex will be located on the North end of Frankenmuth and will feature 6 full-size basketball courts, which can be converted into 12 volleyball courts or 18 pickleball courts, making it an incredibly versatile multi-use sports venue. It will also include a 6,800-square-foot, membership-based fitness center, offering the surrounding community a high-quality space for health, wellness, and recreation. "This facility was designed to attract visitors who travel through their sport and teams who want to compete in a fun destination," said Jamie Furbush, President/CEO of the Frankenmuth CVB. "While bringing new teams and visitors to our region is the primary goal, building something that is right-sized for our area to be successful and sustainable long term was also a priority." When tournaments aren't filling the facility, it will be filled with programming, leagues, drop-in, and rental opportunities for the local and regional community. The design ensures that local athletes, families, and fitness enthusiasts have a modern and accessible facility close to home. The facility will complement the future plans by the City of Frankenmuth for an outdoor complex at Heritage Park South that will focus on identified community needs for additional ball fields and active outdoor recreation. While development details are not yet finalized, the planning process for this project is also underway. Frankenmuth Parks & Recreation looks forward to unveiling their plan in the future. The vision for an indoor sports complex began over two decades ago by a group of local business owners who recognized the potential for a state-of-the-art sports facility that would attract visitors and boost economic activity throughout all four seasons. Over the years, the vision for the facility has never wavered and the sport tourism market has only continued to grow with it. "As a community, Frankenmuth has always taken pride in blending tradition with innovation," said Furbush. By Jamie Furbush, President/CEO of Frankenmuth Chamber & CVB INTRODUCING THE 10
