Home Watch Program If you are going on vacation or plan to be away from your home for an extended period of time, the police department's free Home Watch Program can give you peace of mind. Officers will conduct periodic exterior checks while you are away, monitoring your property for inappropriate activity or emergencies. Enlisting the police department to keep an eye out for suspicious activity while you are away from home does not guarantee against loss, theft, damage or mischief, but it can be a useful deterrent to anyone who may be targeting your home for criminal purposes. The Home Watch Program form can be picked up in the Police Department Lobby. After completion, please return it to the Frankenmuth Police Department at least two days before departing on your vacation. Winter Weather Advisories The City's priority when clearing streets is safety. For that reason, we ask that you please park vehicles in residential driveways and leave the streets clear for plows. No vehicles should be parked in the streets from 2am to 6am November 1 through April 30. Plows are unable to clear streets efficiently when vehicles are parked on city streets during snowfall. The City has established priority and secondary routes for plowing. Primary streets are major streets within the City that experience high traffic volumes. Primary streets include: Genesee, Jefferson, Main and Franklin Streets. The City plows these major streets and those with hills first. During heavy snow, crews may have to clear primary streets again which may delay snow removal on secondary streets (typically within neighborhoods). Snow plowing and removal services on secondary streets begin when more than four inches of snow has accumulated and once primary routes have been cleared. The City may send plows into secondary local streets, depending upon current and forecasted weather conditions. Salting and deicing efforts are typically applied to local streets when appropriate, based on current and forecasted conditions. Although the City does not have an ordinance requiring sidewalks to be cleared, the City has a number of residents that walk throughout the winter. The City encourages property owners to remove snow from sidewalks. If you have a private snow plowing contractor remove your snow, please ask them to not pack or pile snow at sidewalk opening.
