SPECIAL EAGLES SPECIAL EAGLES The Frankenmuth School District has a long-standing tradition of providing excellence in education. This isn't the result of blind luck. It's the result of good people stepping up in every generation to care about what's good for kids, their education, and the best possible future for them. Our tagline – "Where Effort Opens Opportunity" – inspires our instructional mission. While we often focus on the word OPPORTUNITY, we frequently overlook the difficult truth that EFFORT denotes first making the choice to make any effort. A deliberate decision (a choice) is required because effort typically involves hard work, sacrifice, and time away from other pursuits. If ever there was a thankless job today, being a school board trustee would be high on the list! There's no fanfare or cheerleaders. Serving on a school board is all about stewardship and direction-setting. It involves envisioning, policy-making, budgeting, complying with rules and regulations, supporting teaching and learning at multiple levels, and dealing with unexpected situations that arise. It often involves making difficult discussions. The seven members on FSD's Board of Education each made a choice to make a commitment to our school district, each in their own way and for their own reasons. They all had a moment where they made the decision to invest in our students and staff when they could've invested their time and talent elsewhere. Every one of our board members made the decision to personally step up and make a positive difference in the life and future of our schools. I think you'll enjoy reading about their moment of decision and what caused them to make the EFFORT for our district. These men and women may not be Marvel superheroes, but in my book, they're close! WHAT DID YOU SEE, HEAR, OR EXPERIENCE THAT INSPIRED YOU TO RUN FOR SCHOOL BOARD? WHAT'S THE "REASON" BEHIND YOUR DECISION TO MAKE THE EFFORT TO BE ON OUR SCHOOL BOARD AND SERVE OUR DISTRICT? BY GRANT HEGENAUER Michael Grossi, owner of Kremin Inc., joined the Board in August of 2019 and currently serves as Treasurer. Mike is married to Amy Grossi and father to Sofia (sophomore) and Luke (8th grade). He enjoys almost any sporting event, reading, and traveling with his family. MICHAEL GROSSI "I have always been a strong advocate of giving back to the community with your time, talents and gifts. After serving on several different boards, commissions, and councils in Frankenmuth, I had the opportunity to join the school board. Knowing what a phenomenal educational system we have, I wanted to provide my perspective and assistance to not only those that are preparing to attend college but to those students that might want to prepare for a career, skilled trade, or different path. We are truly blessed to have such a talented set of teachers and administrators in our schools as well as strong support from the parents in the community to provide the best education for our children." 12
