Anyone in Frankenmuth on a fall Friday night can hear the drumline echoing over the streets of North Main and the waves of the Cass River. The percussive rhythm and brilliant winds invoke a feeling of excitement for the school and are a surefire sign of community spirit. But did you know that the marching band is much more than just a halftime show? It's a place for students to develop resilience and teamwork, connect with the traditions of our great city, and express pride in our community. Value For Our Students Being part of the marching band is not easy, but it brings tremendous rewards. Starting in mid-August, students dedicate long hours—through hot sun and rain—to learn how to march in unison while playing complex music. The dedication builds friendships, memories, and leadership skills as they work together to create dynamic shapes on the field. More than just practice, these moments help students grow into confident leaders who carry lessons of perseverance beyond the band. Bindi Riccobono, the Junior Drum Major and one of the band's leaders, had this to say about the Marching Eagles: "...I am proud. Proud to have a band that gets people up out of their seats at parades and football games. Not only am I proud of myself, but I am also proud of every band member for putting in substantial amounts of effort during the 90° days and even the 40° days." A New Showcase of Talent V.C. & Friends Marching Band Showcase, an evening of music and camaraderie hosted at Frankenmuth High School. Bands from across the region will gather to perform, support one another, and receive expert feedback. It's not just an event—it's an opportunity for Frankenmuth to shine as a leader in music education. Senior Drum Major Logan Mills says it perfectly: "I think the thing that excites me most about this showcase is that we are helping other schools show off what they can do. Marching band is often an art that is not truly valued for what it is and I am so glad that we are able to provide opportunities to other schools to show off their talent." Best of all, it's open to the entire community, and everyone is invited to experience the music on September 30th! Cost is $5 per family and the bands will start playing at 6pm with Frankenmuth performing last. Food trucks will also be in the parking lot to provide food and snacks for the audience! Next time you hear the Marching Eagles, remember that every note carries hours of dedication, teamwork, and pride. When you see them perform—whether at a game, a parade, or the new showcase—cheer a little louder! We look forward to seeing you at our numerous events!
